Sentricon Termite Control Technology Used for Injured Army Veteran’s House

Army Specialist Luis Puertas went to Baghdad to serve his country during the Iraq War and lost two legs after an explosion took place near him. An organisation called Homes for Our Troops stepped in to build a new, handicap-friendly house for the retired veteran, and brought in Sentricon for its termite control and prevention technology to protect the house against termites. The home was turned over to Puertas on the 19th of last month, with the Sentricon System already installed.

Work on the house actually began only in September of this year, with NWC Construction spearheading building. The design of the building took into account the nature of Puertas’s injuries, and the resulting structure was designed to be perfectly accessible even to those differently-abled. Before the house was turned over to its proper owner, it had to be given the requisite safety treatments, of course, including ones for termite control.

That Sentricon’s revolutionary termite control technology, the Sentricon Colony Elimination System, was selected as the termite prevention measure of choice is perhaps no surprise, especially given the brand’s track record. Sentricon is actually used by several government buildings in the US. It has also been given several awards, including the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, which makes it the only termite control system to have ever been given this honour. The beauty of the Sentricon system is that it is a green product, low in toxins for the environment and capable of lasting for long years with the requisite amount of monitoring. Unlike with other termite prevention systems, there is no need to do the usual digging, trenching or drilling that ends up damaging the property before “saving” it from the termite infestation. Sentricon stations are simply placed into the soil at strategies locations and left to the termites to discover as a source of food. Once the termites find it, it is only a matter of time before the anti-termite toxins in the baits start to spread through the colony and eliminate it. And because the system is designed to stand up to extremely rough conditions, it can stay active for as long as supply lasts, leading to one of the most durable, practical termite extermination programmes available.

The use of such a termite control system for Puertas’s house is obviously a wise one. The entire structure is actually designed not only to afford easy mobility for Puertas but also to be as efficient with resources as possible. It is going to be given the state certification for Green Building at the Platinum Level soon due to the extent of its efficiencies and adaptations in the name of conservation for water as well as energy.
